Bible Lesson 30

How should a Christian live?

Trusting in God!

One of the most beautiful and well-known passages of Scripture is Psalm 23. In it we see a picture of the Christian as a sheep who is well-cared for.

We know, however, that the Christian life is not always easy, and this psalm recognizes that. Why do we need quiet waters? We get thirsty. Why do we need new strength? We get worn out.

And what happens when (not if) we walk through the valley of the shadow of death? God himself is with us. He protects and guides us.

And even in the presence of those who might seek to destroy us, God is feeding us and caring for us. Surely his goodness and mercy will be with us all the days of our lives!

Salmo 23

(1) El Señor es mi pastor, nada me falta;

(2) en verdes pastos me hace descansar.

Junto a tranquilas aguas me conduce;

(3) me infunde nuevas fuerzas.

Me guía por sendas de justicia

por amor a su nombre.

(4) Aun si voy por valles tenebrosos,

no temo peligro alguno

porque tú estás a mi lado;

tu vara de pastor me reconforta.

(5) Dispones ante mí un banquete

en presencia de mis enemigos.

Has ungido con perfume mi cabeza;

has llenado mi copa a rebosar.

(6) La bondad y el amor me seguirán

todos los días de mi vida;

y en la casa del Señor

habitaré para siempre.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing;

In green pastures he makes me rest.

Next to tranquil waters he leads me;

He infuses me with new strength.

He guides me by paths of righteousness

For the love of his name.

Even if I go through shadowy valleys,

I fear no evil

Because you are at my side;

Your shepherd’s rod comforts me.

You place before me a banquet

in the presence of my enemies.

You have anointed my head with perfume;

You have filled my cup to overflowing.

Goodness and love will follow me

All the days of my life;

And in the house of the Lord

I will dwell forever.
