Bible Lesson 15

What did Jesus do?

He rose from the dead!

Jesus’ resurrection is the most important aspect of the Christian faith. If he actually rose from the dead, then he conquered death and he reigns to this day; we serve a living King and Savior! If he actually rose from the dead, it proves his divinity, and all of the other miracles of the Bible are easy to believe. If he actually rose from the dead, then we can trust his promises that we also will have eternal life.

If Jesus didn’t actually rise from the dead, “Your faith is futile and you are still in your sins” (I Corinthians 15:17).

Thankfully, there is abundant evidence that Jesus actually did rise from the dead; anyone willing to honestly investigate and consider the evidence can have good reason to believe!

Marcos 16

Mark 16

Early in the morning, the first day of the week, they arrived at the tomb when the sun had risen. And they were saying one to another, “Who will remove for us the stone at the entrance of the tomb?” When they lifted their eyes, they saw that the stone, although it was extremely big, had been removed.

Entering the tomb, they saw a youth seated at the right side, dressed in white clothes; and they were afraid. But he said to them, “Don’t be afraid; you seek Jesus of Nazareth, he that was crucified. He has risen, he is not here; look at the place where they put him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He goes ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told you.'”

Luke 24

While they were retelling these things, Jesus appeared in the midst of them, and he told them, “Peace to you.”

But they, terrified and frightened, thought that they saw a ghost. And he said to them, “Why are you upset, and why do doubts rise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh nor bones as you see that I have.”
