Bible Lesson 8

Who Are We?

Humans Are Perishing

If there is any idea more offensive to modern culture than Jesus being the only way to God, it is the idea that there will be eternal judgment and suffering after death. It just doesn’t fit with the kind of god people like to imagine; a god who loves everyone, all the time, no matter what, and is always willing to forgive sins (if there even is such a thing).

The stark, sobering truth, however, is that hell is real, and Jesus himself said that many people would go there.

For those who are not in Christ, the reaction to this news should be to run to him and plead for mercy; he is very ready to give it!

For those who are saved, the reaction to this news should be to do everything we can to prevent people from going there!

Perecemos

Salmo 103

We Are Perishing

Psalm 103

Man, like the grass are his days; like a flower of the field, thus he flourishes; when the wind passes over it, it ceases to be, and it’s place no longer recognizes it.

Hebrews 9:27

And so it is decreed that people should die only one time, and after that, the judgment.

Revelation 20

I saw a great, white throne, and him who was seated on it, from whose presence the heaven and earth fled, and there was no place found for them. Also I saw the dead, great and small, on foot before the throne, and the scrolls were opened. Another scroll was opened, which is the Book of Life, and the dead were judged by what was written in the scrolls, according to their words. The sea handed over the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.

Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death: the lake of fire. And each who was not found written in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.
