Bible Lesson 25

How should a Christian live?

Be Holy! (part 1)

We learned back at the beginning of the year that humans were created in the image of God. Partly, that means our abilities, such as reasoning, creativity, communication, moral understanding, relationship and more.

Being made in the image of God also meant that humans shared his character: perfect righteousness, spotless love, pure motives, unreserved generosity, joyful service, and much more!

As fallen beings, this image of God is distorted in us.

But as redeemed beings, this image of God is being renewed in us! Therefore, one of the marks of a Christian life is a gradual increase in the character of God within us.

Haciíendonos más santos

1 Pedro 1

Becoming more holy

1 Peter 1

Therefore, prepare yourselves to act with intelligence; have self control; put your hope completely in the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, don’t conform yourselves to the evil desires that you had before, when you lived in ignorance. Better, be holy in everything you do, as also He who called you is holy; since it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

Since you call as Father the one who judges with impartiality the works of each one, live with reverent fear while you are pilgrims in this world. As you well know, all of you were rescued from the absurd life you inherited from your ancestors. The price of your ransom was not paid with perishing things, like gold or silver, but rather with the precious blood of Christ, like a lamb without stain and without defect.
