Bienvenidos a la próxima entrevista con la señora Garibay. Y, primero, ¿puedes compartir un poco sobre tu profesión?

Sí. Ahora soy maestra bilingüe de quinto grado.

Y, ¿te gusta ser maestra?

Sí, me encanta ser maestra. Aunque ahorita los tiempos son un poquito diferentes, ya que estamos más virtual, pero sí me alegra mucho el trabajo que hago y trabajar con alumnos y niños todos los días.

Qué bueno. Y, ¿te gusta ir al zoológico?

Sí. Me gusta mucho ver animales en un hábitat que tal vez no es su hábitat natural pero tratan de asimilar los hábitats naturales y a veces es la única manera que tú puedes acercarte a animales exóticos.

Sí, claro. Y, ¿cuál es el animal que te gusta ver más en el zoológico?

Mi animal favorito es la jirafa, so es la que siempre me gusta visitar cuando voy a zoológicos.

¿Alguna vez cazaste a un animal?

No. Nunca he cazado un animal.

Y, ¿te gusta pescar?

Tampoco me gusta pescar. Este, no me gusta comer pescado si luego me daría lastima por el pobrecito pez.

Pues, ¿se encuentran muchos animales salvajes donde tú vives?

Tal vez, ¿como pequeños? Bueno, sabes que no. Antes cuando de recién llegamos a este lugar, atrás de nosotros, no había casas. So llegaban como animales, este… ratones, lagartijos, este… animales, pues, que les gusta estar en la tierra, pero allí ya hicieron casas entonces ya no nos frecuentan animales salvajes, casi nada.

Ah, eso tiene sentido. Pues, cuando nadas en el océano, ¿tienes miedo de tiburones?

Sí, sí, siento miedo de los tiburones en el océano. Está muy profundo y no puedes mirar hasta abajo, so sí, sí me da un poquito de temor.

Y, ¿tienes miedo de serpientes?

¿Las serpientes? No mucho como arañas. Arañas sí me dan mucho miedo. Serpientes siento como que, si tú no las molestas, ellos no te molestan.

Sí, claro. Pues, finalmente, ¿tienes un loro?

No. Yo no he tenido un loro. Me ha interesado porque siento que se me hace muy bonito que puedes enseñarle palabras y frases, pero ¡viven más de cien años! ¿Qué va a pasar a mi loro? Se lo doy a mis hijos y mis nietos y mis bisnietos.

Y, ¿qué frases le enseñarías a decir si tenías un loro?

Tal vez frases chistosas, ¿no?, que te hagan reír, chistes.

Welcome to the next interview with Mrs. Garibay. And, first of all, can you share a little bit about your profession?

Yes. I am now a 5th grade bilingual teacher.

And do you like being a teacher?

Yes, I love being a teacher. Although now the times are a little bit different, since we are more virtual, but I do enjoy the job I do and working with students and children everyday.

How nice. And, do you like going to the zoo?

Yes. I really like looking at animals in a habitat that perhaps is not their natural habitat but they try to resemble the natural habitats and sometimes it is the only way you can get close to exotic animals.

Yes, of course. And, what is the animal that you like to look at most at the zoo?

My favorite animal is the giraffe so it is what I always like to visit when I go to zoos.

Have you ever hunted an animal?

No. I have never hunted an animal.

And, do you like to fish?

I don’t like fishing either. I don’t like eating fish, and then I also feel bad for the poor fish.

Well, are many wild animals found where you live?

Perhaps, like small ones? Well, you know what, no. Before when we just arrived at this place, behind us, there were no homes. Animals came, like mice, lizards, animals that like to be in the dirt, but now they have built houses, so we’re no longer frequented by wild animals, almost none.

Ah, that makes sense. Well, when you swim in the ocean, are you afraid of sharks?

Yes, I am scared of sharks in the ocean. It’s very deep and you can’t look to the bottom, so yes, it does give me a little fear.

And, do you have fear of snakes?

Snakes? Not as much as spiders. Spiders do make me very afraid. I feel that snakes, if you don’t bother them, they won’t bother you.

Yeah. Well, finally, do you have a parrot?

No. I have never had a parrot. It has interested me because it seems nice to me that you can teach it words and phrases, but they live for more than 100 years! What will happen to my parrot? I [would] give it to my children and my grandchildren and my great grandchildren.

And, what phrases would you teach it to say if you had a parrot?

Maybe funny phrases that make you laugh, jokes.
