Part 1: Dictation

As you listen to the following recording, listen for the answers to the following questions. Don’t worry about the parts you don’t understand. Instead, focus on what you do understand, and try to answer the questions in Spanish.

¡Hola a todos! Hoy vamos a hablar con la señora Garibay sobre los viajes. Y, bueno, ¿tuviste un viaje recientemente?

Sí. En julio, viajamos con mi familia a México, en Guadalajara.

Y, ¿cómo viajaste?

Fuimos en un avión al aeropuerto de Guadalajara.

Entonces, ¿dónde te subiste al avión?

Fuimos al aeropuerto de Tijuana, y de Tijuana volamos – era un vuelo de dos horas y media – a Guadalajara para mirar a mis papás y a mis suegros.

Y, ¿había una demora?

Hubo una demora porque, con todo lo que está pasando la pandemia, querían asegurarse que revisaban a todos su temperatura, que todos tenían su mascarilla. Este, so sí eso tardó un poquito más tiempo.

Y, ¿el avión tuvo que hacer escala?

No. El avión se fue directamente a Guadalajara.

Bueno. Y, ¿hubo muchos pasajeros?

Hubo más o menos – no, como la mitad del avión estaba lleno.

Pues, ¿tenías que esperar mucho en la sala de espera?

Porque hubo tanta demora con revisar las temperaturas, porque hicieron varias veces: entrando a la primera puerta dejando las maletas, otra vez te revisaban tus documentos y tu temperatura. Sí tuvimos muchas paradas, so cuando llegamos, era corre, corre, corre, corre al avión entonces no nos tocó esperar.

Ah. Y, ¿tenías mucho equipaje?

Sí. Bueno, sí y no. Cada quien tenía una maleta, y como somos una familia de cinco, eran cinco maletas.

Vale. Y, ¿tenías que traer tu pasaporte?

Sí. Todos teníamos que viajar con nuestro pasaporte en mano.

Vale. Y, finalmente, ¿alguna vez pasaste por la inmigración y la aduana?

Sí. Porque fue un viaje internacional, es en México, tuvimos que regresar y pasar por la inmigración y la aduana para que nos dejaran regresar a Estados Unidos.

Y, ¿fue difícil o fácil?

Fue fácil porque teníamos todos los documentos en mano. Y como no eran muchos viajeros, fue más rápido la espera.

Hello everyone! Today we are going to talk with Mrs. Garibay about trips. And, well, did you have a trip recently?

Yes. In July, we traveled with my family to Mexico, in Guadalajara.

And how did you travel?

We went on a plane to the Guadalajara airport.

So, where did you get on the plane?

We went to the airport of Tijuana and from Tijuana we flew, it was a flight of two and a half hours, to Guadalajara to see my parents and my parents-in-law.

And was there a delay?

There was a delay because, with everything that is happening with the pandemic, they wanted to make sure that they checked the temperature of everyone, that everyone had their masks. So it did delay a little more time.

And did the plane need to make a stop?

No. The plane went directly to Guadalajara.

And were there lots of passengers?

There were more or less… no, like half of the plane was full.

Well, did you need to wait a lot in the waiting room?

Because there was so much delay with checking temperatures, because they did it various times: entering the first gate, leaving the suitcases, once again they checked your documents and your temperature. Yes, we had lots of stops, so when we arrived, it was run, run, run, run to the plane so no, we did not have to wait.

Ah. And, did you have lots of luggage?

Yes. Well, yes and no. Each one had a suitcase, and since we are a family of five, there were five suitcases.

Ok. And, did you have to bring your passport?

Yes. We all had to travel with our passport in hand.

Ok. And, finally, did you ever pass through immigration or customs?

Yes. Because it was an international trip, it’s in Mexico, we had to return and pass through immigration and customs so they would let us return to the United States.

And, was it hard or easy?

It was easy because we had all our documents in hand. And because there were not many travelers, the wait was faster.
