Bible Lesson 2

El Verbo Se Hizo Hombre The Word Became Flesh

This week’s passage gives us an abstract, symbolic view of the Christmas story, the moment when God Himself entered His world.

We see Jesus, as the Word, by whom all things were made, becoming a part of His creation.

We see the light of the world, piercing the shadows.

We see the Creator coming in love to His creation, who refuses to recognize Him.

How to Use This Page:

2. Open the English translation, and read the two side-by-side, making sure you understand the Spanish.

3. Close the English, and listen to the audio again, reading along in Spanish.

4. Close the Spanish, and listen once more. Maybe shut your eyes, and just try to catch as much as you can.

In the beginning already existed the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.

By means of Him all things were created; without Him, nothing of that which is created arrived in existence.

In Him was the life, and the life was the light of humanity.

This light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not been able to put it out.

There came a man named John. God sent him as a witness to give testimony to the light, so that by means of him all would believe. John was not the light, but he came to bear witness to the light. That true light, which illuminated all human beings, came to this world.

He that was the light was already in the world, and the world was created by means of Him, but the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his, but His own did not receive Him. But to all who received Him, to those who believe in His name, He gave the right to be sons of God. These are not born of blood, nor by natural desires, nor by human will; rather they are born of God.
