Part 1: Dictation

Play the recordings and write down the sentences that you hear. You can play the recording multiple times. Once you have finished, check your answers by opening the box below the recording.

  • Ellos se casaron ayer y el marido le dio un anillo precioso.
  • Compré una navaja nueva para mi papá porque él se afeita a menudo.
  • Me mojé bajo la lluvia, pero me sequé antes de entrar en casa.
  • Después de recoger las cosas del suelo, tienes que sacar la basura.(Marido = esposo.  Suelo = piso)

Play the recording from part 1 again and repeat what you hear out loud. You can do this with the Dictation Key open or closed. You will need to pause the recording to have time to say each phrase before the next one starts.

Part 3: Listening for Information

As you listen to the following recording, listen for the answers to the following questions. Don’t worry about the parts you don’t understand. Instead, focus on what you do understand, and try to answer the questions in Spanish.

Once you have done your best to answer the questions, please use the button to check your responses.

  2. Close the English script, and listen again to the recording from part 3, following along with the Spanish version.
  3. Close the Spanish script, and listen once more with no script. Do your best to distinguish the words and phrases you are hearing. Focus on understanding the main ideas, not every detail.

Ah, to rest. Yes, to rest, my ideal place is the bed.

Good. And do you get hurt frequently?

Fortunately, no.

So have you ever broken a bone?

That neither, fortunately I’ve never broken a bone.

Ok then. Do you prefer to pick up food to-go or dine at a restaurant?

Dine at a restaurant is much better, in my opinion.

And, Why?

Because it tends to be healthier food and one can also eat with more calm and more time, and can converse with people.

Ah, yes. And, what are the chores that you like the least?

Really good question. I like least having to get under the house to make repairs.

And, what type of repairs?

Repairs of all types of home maintenance. Now I am trying to make repairs with the ducts of the air conditioning system.

Ok then. And, are you always polite? Or are you rude sometimes?

That depends on who you ask that. I see myself as polite but it is all opinion, right? It’s subjective.
